Plasmolifting
Plasmolifting is an injection-based procedure designed to stimulate regenerative processes in tissues by using the patient's own platelet-rich plasma.
Mechanism of Action
When tissue damage occurs, platelets act as first responders — they travel to the site of injury and help form a blood clot. Later, it was discovered that platelets contain growth factors that stimulate the regeneration of blood vessels, nerves, bone, and tendon tissues.
Advantages of the Method
Since the patient receives their own plasma, there is no risk of allergic or side effects. Plasma preparation eliminates the possibility of infection. The method allows for reducing dependence on medications and painkillers, while enabling the use of complementary treatments such as radon baths and physiotherapy. Recovery time is shortened by 2–3 times.
Indications for Plasmolifting in Orthopedics and Traumatology
- Arthritis, especially at stages I and II;
- Periarthritis, epicondylitis;
- Ligament strains and tears;
- Non-healing fractures and wounds;
- Trophic ulcers;
- Post-operative conditions after joint and spine surgery.
Neurology Indications
- Root syndrome;
- Carpal tunnel syndrome;
- Osteochondrosis;
- Intervertebral hernias;
- Pain syndrome;
- Heel spurs, plantar fascia issues.
Contraindications
Like any medical treatment, plasmolifting has contraindications:
- Blood disorders and low platelet count;
- Oncological diseases;
- Acute and chronic infections;
- Viral hepatitis;
- Pregnancy;
- Immunodeficiency states.
In all cases, the decision to perform autologous plasma therapy is made by a certified orthopedic-traumatologist at the health resort, who has completed specialized training and holds the appropriate certificate.
Results Achieved
Positive effects from plasma therapy can be noticed already after 1–2 injections.
Main results are achieved after completing a full course:
- Inflammation and pain decrease;
- Joint mobility significantly improves;
- Joint cracking reduces;
- Ligaments heal without forming coarse scars;
- Synovial fluid production returns to normal;
- Recovery time shortens;
- The method works at any age and stage of disease.
Special Preparation Before the Procedure
It is recommended to avoid alcohol and refrain from eating fatty or spicy foods 10 hours before the session. Women should avoid the days of their menstrual cycle. If corticosteroids or blood-thinning medications were taken within two weeks prior, the procedure should be postponed. It is also not performed during acute respiratory illnesses or gastrointestinal disorders — these conditions may interfere with and distort the treatment outcome.
Procedure Features at the "Berezoviy Gai" Health Resort
Consultations and procedures are conducted by certified orthopedic-traumatologists. The department is equipped with all necessary tools: a treatment room, special tubes for plasmolifting, and a centrifuge.
Patients are advised to bring X-rays, MRI, or CT scan results with them.
Procedures are usually administered once a week, with an average course consisting of three sessions.
