Manual massage of the face, neck and decollete area

Manual massage of the face, neck and decollete area

Age-related changes in the face, as well as other body areas, are not only associated with direct photo- and chronological aging of the skin itself, but also with changes in bones (in this case — the skull), as well as facial muscles and blood vessels in the face, neck, and décolletage area. Therefore, to achieve the best results in fighting signs of aging and loss of skin tone, procedures combining cosmetic products and massage are recommended.

What problems can manual facial massage address?

Manual massage allows for the most accurate selection of the impact method on the skin, depending on the individual structure of the body. The hands of the therapist smoothly adjust between these techniques depending on the treated area. Thus, the main purpose of the procedure is to comprehensively correct the specific cosmetic imperfections of each individual patient.

Indications for such a massage may include:

  • Tired-looking skin;
  • Multiples fine lines and wrinkles;
  • Dryness of the skin;
  • Unhealthy complexion;
  • Scars or marks after acne treatment;
  • Double chin.

Massage affects both the skin directly and the entire body through reflexive stimulation. Relaxation of facial muscles relieves fatigue and tension, helping the person recover from stress. Mechanical stimulation of nerve receptors by the therapist’s hands activates the entire nervous system. Warm touch helps normalize hormonal function, improves mood, promotes healthy sleep, and enhances overall well-being.

As a result, lymphatic drainage is accelerated, reducing swelling, slowing down the aging process, and increasing resistance to dermatological conditions. Activation of metabolic processes leads to a visible lifting effect. The facial contour becomes more defined, and the number of folds and wrinkles decreases.

Contraindications for the Procedure

Since facial massage influences pulse, blood pressure, the nervous system, and metabolism, it is better to avoid this procedure for patients with the following conditions:

  • Facial nerve dysfunction;
  • Fungal skin infections;
  • Herpes or eczema flare-ups;
  • Reduced blood clotting ability;
  • Acute cardiovascular diseases;
  • Acute infectious diseases;
  • Hypertension;
  • Oncological diseases.

Technique of Manual Facial Massage

This type of massage in our health resort is performed using massage oils or creams from brands such as Clarena, Christina, and Amaranthe. This massage is indispensable due to its affordable price and can be included in any patient's comprehensive skincare routine. The massage increases the flow of nutrients and oxygen to skin cells, improving their absorption. This intensive support leads to noticeable improvements in skin tone, hydration, and elasticity — with long-lasting results.

A full course usually includes 10–15 sessions, performed twice a year.

Each session lasts 20–25 minutes and includes classical kneading and stroking movements, working out stagnant areas, pressing motions along key facial lines used for contour correction, as well as targeted stimulation of specific muscle groups to restore their tone.
